Understory Cottage Rehab

This landscape design was created to transform a sloped area into a welcoming and functional garden space with a strong natural feel. Rounded river rock retaining walls were used to terrace the hillside, creating definition while helping the landscape work with the existing grade. A mix of shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses, and seasonal color fills the planting beds, adding texture and interest throughout the space. The concrete stepping path and stairs provide an easy transition through the garden while guiding you naturally up toward the home. The combination of natural stone, layered plantings, and clean pathways gives this landscape a relaxed, timeless look that feels right at home in its wooded setting.
